An account of the resource
A photographic album of the Butler-Stoney family of Portland Park, Tipperary: In Burkes 1904 landed gentry the family were Walter Charles Butler-Stoney b.1846, married 1872 Ellen Cattley Kemble daughter of Rev. Charles Kemble, rector of Bath and Prebendary of Wells. Their children were Thomas b. 1875, Charles b. 1877, Bowes b. 1879, Richard b. 1887 and Ellen b. 1891. Portland Park was burnt in 1938 by a group of masked men on the day before the house was to become an orphanage for protestant children. The estate had already been divided up between the tenants and the family had not been in residence for ten years. The album was loaned for digitisation by the Ievers family of Mount Ievers court in Co. Clare who are connected to the Butler-Stoney family.
