Description

Black and white photographic image of of old colliery buildings at Mardyke near Killenaule. Mardyke was part of the Slieveardagh mining operations for coal which operated from the 17th century at first on a small scale and from 1826 by the Mining Company of Ireland. Mining at Mardyke ceased in 1833 the mine was re-worked between 1859-1865 but proved uneconomic. 21 August 1926
