Macra na Feirme
The 34th A.G.M. of the local Carrick-on-Suir branch of Macra na Feirme took place last week, and there was a full attendance including many new members. Thanks were expressed to the outgoing officers, on their work over the past two years. The chairman stated that their enthusiasm and efficiency had made Carrick one of the best Macra clubs. The outgoing officers were Anna Tobin, President; Nicholas Tobin, Vice-President; John G. O'Connell, Chairman; Gerard Healy, Secretary; Mary Norris, Treasurer, and Pearl O'Loughlin, Assistant Secretary.
Thanks were also expressed to the club's delegates to the South Executive and the County Executive. They were Tom and Eileen Acheson and Willie Smyth and Jim Tobin.
Officers elected for the coming year were as follows: President, Michael Walsh; Vice-Presidents, Nicholas Tobin and John G. O'Connell; Chairman, John Foley; Vice-Chairmen, Gerard Healy and Dermot Tobin; Secretary, Pearl O'Loughlin, Assistant Secretary, Mary Norris; Treasurer, Brendan Dunne; P.R.O. Anne O'Dwyer.
The members wish every success to the new committee for the coming year.
Committee members elected were John Connolly, Tom Hahessy, Willie Smyth, Jim Tobin, Catherine O'Connell, Anna Delaney, Mary O'Neill and Anne P. Prendergast.
Delegates to the South Executive: John Connolly and Dermot Tobin.
Delegates to the County Executive: John G. O'Connell and Tom Hahessy.
The next general meeting will take place at T. Kehoe's, West Gate, on Wednesday, October 7th. There is a welcome for all new members who wish to come along and join Macra at our next meeting.
